According to Oxygen, (see link below) On December 27, 2011, the family of Randy Scheffield called 911 after finding him in his bedroom, unresponsive with blood coming out of his ear. His wife Doretta thought he may have had a heart attack or stroke. As paramedics examined his body, however, they found a small puncture wound in the back of his head. It was a bullet hole from a .22 caliber handgun. Randy Scheffield had been shot in the head. Police would eventually learn it was murder, but it would take years before justice would be served.

She was sentenced to 27 1/2 Years to Life in prison and will never be released due to her age.

According to Oxygen,  Cracks in the storybook facade began to show. Mulvihill was forced into unemployment, which placed Lovejoy into the role of sole provider. Friends remember she had chronic fatigue and believed her health was fading. "She believed that she had fibromyalgia and believed that her son had an illness that all stemmed from some kidney illness," said Brenton. Eventually, Lovejoy's health and other issues led to the couple splitting in 2014. By 2016, both Mulvihill and Lovejoy were working and co-parenting, even though their divorce wasn't finalized. In sseason 24 episode 10, the story of Carri Standsoverbull and Jeffrey Hewitt.. She was sentenced to forty years in prison for his beating death. According to the Billings Gazette , Judge Michael Moses sentenced Carri Elizabeth Standsoverbull, 41, to 60 years in prison with 20 suspended in the death of Jeffrey Hewitt. She will also be required to pay a $5,000 fine and roughly $5,500 in restitution. Standsoverbull will be eligible for parole after 10 years.
